Self-publishing has made it easy to become a published author, but self-publishing doesn’t address the main component that will determine your ultimate success as a writer–the quality of your writing. Poorly written novels are published on Amazon every day, cluttering the virtual bookstore. Agents receive hundreds of queries a week, making it more difficult for exceptional work to stand out.

A good editor improves your text. A great editor makes you a better writer.

Whether you seek to be self-published or want to be traditionally published, my style will be to challenge you. I will show you areas of weakness (too much telling, passive voice, too much backstory or scene-setting, not enough backstory or scene-setting etc.) and provide suggestions for how you can improve.

If you are interested, drop me a sample chapter and we can get this process started. Trust is an important component of the writer-editor relationship, and I endeavor to earn your trust while providing professional editing skills with the independent author in mind.

A poorly written first few pages can doom your novel. Many agents request your first three chapters, and Amazon allows readers to see a free preview of your opening pages. As the old saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. If agents or readers don’t like your writing, they won’t keep going.

My goal is to help you make a strong first impression, whether you are self-publishing or looking to query.

My rates are $500 for manuscripts up to 70,000 words. Manuscripts over 70,000 words are $500 plus $100 for each additional 10,000 words.

  • 70,000 words or less-$500

  • 100,000 words and up-Let’s have a chat about word count.
